Cleaning Wood Kitchen Cabinets
If you are the owner of a set of wood
kitchen cabinets then you are more than aware of the
maintenance they require to keep them glistening like
you.
Many people assume that cleaning wood
kitchen cabinets is a difficult task that require some special
solvents or solutions to be effective, this is completely
false. It is important to regularly keep your cabinets
clean so staining and dust residue is kept to a minimum, by
doing this you insuren your wood cabinets keep there natural
colour all year round.
It is often assumed that you need some
sort of special solvent or cleaner when it comes to cleaning
wood kitchen cabinets, this is far from the truth. With a
bit of elbow grease and some general purpose cleaners you can
have your cabinets glistening again in no time. It may
take months or even years for dirt or dust build up to
show up on your units, dont leave it till it's too late, it
will just mean more work for you or your family.
Cleaning your wood
cabinets
First thing you should do is remove
everything from your cabinets so you can commence
cleaning. Anything inside your wood cabinets that has a
buildup of dust or dirt should be removed and cleaned so you
put back in once cleaning has been done.
When it comes to solutions to use to
clean your units no matter what type of wood it is I
recommend Murphy's oil soap or Lysol general purpose
cleaner. If you want to save on cash then you could
always use a natural alternative that is part lemon juice and 2
parts olive oil.
With cloth in hand and some solution
applied slowly wipe down your wood cabinets so solution is
absorbed by the wood. If you come across any hard
staining or blemished be sure to wipe them out. For those
hard to reach cracks and openings where your cloth won't reach
i recommend using a soft brissled toothbrush.
Once you have worked worked the
solution into all your cabinets you want to then get a bowl
with warm clean water and rinse the soap residue from the
cabinets. Remember to take it slowly and dont use any
execcsive force , gently does it.
Once completed you can then let your
cabinets dry off for 10-15 minutes and commence in putting all
shelves, utensils and food products back into the unit.
Now you can stand back and admire your cabinets as if they were
new!
